DURHAM, N.C., July 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/
-- Punctuating a lifelong track record of public service,
Michael Jordan, attorney-shareholder
at the Law Offices of James Scott
Farrin, was recently elected to the Durham County Bar
Association's Board of Directors. Along with seven other lawyers in
the Durham area, Jordan will join
the Board in organizing and managing the Sixteenth Judicial
District Bar, beginning in the fall of 2019.
Jordan has practiced law in North
Carolina for over 25 years, first at his own firm, and then
at the Law Offices of James Scott
Farrin. Throughout his long career, he has been a constant
advocate for those treated unfairly or harmed by another party,
working specifically in personal injury law, workers' compensation,
products liability, eminent domain, medical malpractice, mass tort,
and other injury claims.
Jordan says, "As a Durham
native, a graduate of the North Carolina
Central University School of Law in Durham, and as someone who has practiced law
in Durham over my entire 26-year
career, I am honored to have been selected to serve as a director
for our local Bar Association. The Durham Bar is an important
resource for the legal community as well as the broader local
community, and I look forward to making a positive difference in my
role as a director."
After earning his B.A. in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in
1989, and his J.D. from the North Carolina
Central University School of Law in 1993, Jordan started a
general practice firm in Durham.
Eight years in, a severe injury nearly cost him an eye, and he was
forced to close his practice. Though a difficult time in his life,
he has come to regard this struggle as a "blessing in disguise"
because it eventually steered him to personal injury law.
In 2001, Jordan joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, and was subsequently offered
a shareholder position in 2002. He has been a proponent for those
in need ever since, drawing from his personal experience to
empathize with the difficulties his injured clients face.
Over the course of his career so far, Jordan has played several
important roles in statewide bar associations. In the past, he has
been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association's Law Practice
Management Section Council as well as the Practical Skills
Subcommittee. He is a current member of the North Carolina State
Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Durham Bar
Association, and the 16th Judicial District Bar Association.
His involvement in the North
Carolina community is not limited to his work as a lawyer.
He is an active member of the American Association for Justice, as
well as the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ). For the
latter association, he has worked on multiple committees and is
presently serving on the Ethics and Legislative Committees. The
NCAJ awarded Jordan their "Order of Service" recognition nine years
in a row, acknowledging his dedication to protecting the individual
rights of North Carolinians.
Additionally, he held a position on the Advisory Board for the
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) North Carolina Chapter. He has
hosted various legal programs, and has spoken regularly at multiple
continuing legal education (CLE) seminars in the area. Jordan also
wrote sections of the "North Carolina Personal Injury Liens
Manual," which was published by LexisNexis in 2007. Finally, Jordan
is an active member of his church and says that his faith is part
of what drives him to help others.
He believes "the most rewarding aspect of practicing law is
seeing the positive difference you can make in the lives of people
who are suffering," and this selfless mindset has allowed Jordan to
make a difference in many North Carolinian's lives for the past 25
years.
