ROYAL LONDON UK EQUITY & INCOME TRUST PLC (the "Company")

Substantial Shareholder

The Company has today been notified that information previously advised to it by
Trafalgar Asset Managers Limited ("TAML"), stating that they had an aggregate 
interest in 8,700,000 million of the Company's ordinary 1p shares, was 
incorrect. In fact, part of the purchases were contracts for differences
rather than cash settled equity. As a result, discretionary clients of TAML 
actually have an aggregate interest in 4,500,000 ordinary 1p shares in the
Company. This holding represents 6.42% of the Company's issued share capital.
