Ovoca Resources plc

The Directors of Ovoca Resources plc have noted the recent increase in the
share price of the Company.  The Directors confirm that the Company is
pursuing its exploration programme which was detailed its recent Annual
General Meeting and in the Chairman's statement accompanying the 1998 Annual
Report. This includes a diamond drilling programme, the first phase of which
is currently underway. The drilling programme is scheduled to continue on and
off through most of next year.  

The Board is not in a position to announce how the drilling programme is
progressing at present and is not aware of any reason why the share price has
suddenly increased in this way over the past week.  When and if the Company
has significant information to announce to the market it will do so
immediately.
