PLANT COMMISSIONING - BELLSBANK OPERATIONS
KimCor Diamonds plc ("KimCor" or the "Company"), a diamond producing and
exploration company with properties in South Africa, is pleased to announce that
the full scale processing plant located at the Company's wholly owned Bellsbank
property has been commissioned and processing has commenced on a commercial
scale.
At full capacity, the plant will process 60,000 tonnes of tailings material each
month (720,000 tonnes per annum) yielding approximately 50,000 carats each year,
based on the grades achieved using the pilot processing plant.
Since 4 September 2006, the main plant has been processing the four million
tonne tailings resource at Bellsbank on a commercial scale. The plant is now
operating at full capacity processing 100 tonnes per hour. Construction of the
processing plant was completed in mid August and a subsequent two week period
followed testing individual plant components.
Between 28 August and 3 September 2006, the plant was operated on two continuous
eight hour shifts per day. Diamondiferous dump material from a tailing stockpile
derived from the Company's previous pilot plant trials conducted between June
and December 2005 has been reprocessed. It is testament to the efficiency and
robustness of the new processing plant process that more diamonds are being
recovered from the pilot plant waste that has already been processed twice.
The mine management will process tailings feedstock from a variety of sites
during the next few weeks to determine recoverable diamond grades for each
individual stockpile with the purpose of providing information to manage future
grade control and blending of resources to ensure target production is met each
month.
The Company will inform its shareholders in due course of its progress and the
results from the first commercial run of production.
Commenting on progress at Bellsbank, Martyn Churchouse (Chief Executive Officer)
said: "This is an important landmark for KimCor. The commissioning of the
reprocessing plant has been a priority and our success in reaching this stage is
key to our ambition to grow KimCor into a substantial diamond mining and
exploration business.
"Our ability to generate cash flow increases our scope to make new acquisitions
that will see the Company continue to grow and our shareholders prosper. I also
take the opportunity to congratulate the Bellsbank mine management for bringing
the plant in on schedule and under budget."
