First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. Management Appointments

    CALGARY, Feb. 28 /CNW/ - First Calgary Petroleums Ltd. (FCP or the
Company) is pleased to announce the appointments of Mr. David Savage to Chief
Financial Officer and Mr. Jeffrey P. Angel to Vice President, Corporate
Communications and Investor Relations. Mr. James Munro Wright has also joined
the Company as Algeria, Co-Director General and Mr. Claude Courtemanche as
Vice President, Country Manager, Algeria.

    Mr. David Savage - Chief Financial Officer

    Mr. Savage has been serving as the interim Director of Corporate Finance
for FCP since August 2007. Mr. Savage has more than 30 years of international
banking experience with significant expertise in project finance and other
structured finance and advisory work, particularly in relation to the oil and
gas industry. From 1996 to 2004, Mr. Savage was Executive Vice President and
Global Head of Corporate Finance at Commerzbank AG where he was responsible
for a spectrum of product groups including: leveraged finance, special
industries/project finance, loan syndication, structured tax products, equity
capital markets, and private equity investing (bank capital). Prior to joining
Commerzbank, Mr. Savage served as Director and Deputy Head of Structured
Finance at Deutsche Bank AG from 1992 to 1996 and also held corporate finance
oriented positions at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. After leaving Commerzbank,
and before joining FCP, Mr. Savage served in various consulting roles
providing corporate advice to a range of young companies in regard to strategy
and capital raising. Mr. Savage holds an MBA from the Graduate School of
Business, Harvard University.

    Mr. Jeffrey P. Angel - Vice President, Corporate Communications and
    Investor Relations

    Prior to joining FCP, Mr. Angel was the President of GCI Canada, a
multi-national marketing and communications firm, based in New York. Clients
of GCI included Shell Canada, the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association, Dell
and Mattel. From 2000 to 2004, Mr. Angel was the Senior Vice President of
Communications for British Airways and was responsible for the overall brand
image and corporate positioning of the airline in the Americas. Mr. Angel also
served as the Director of Corporate Communications for Canadian Airlines for
five years and implemented an extensive communications program targeting the
company's international span. Mr. Angel was also an advisor to two Federal
Cabinet Ministers and the Canadian Prime Minister. Mr. Angel holds a Bachelor
of Arts degree in political science from the University of Western Ontario,
Canada.

    Mr. Jim Wright - Algeria Co-Director General

    Mr. Wright is Co-Director General for the Sonatrach - FCP association,
which will develop the MLE field in Algeria. Along with his Sonatrach
counterpart, they will jointly report to a management committee formed by
representatives of both partners. He will be responsible for the in- and
out-of-country management and execution of bringing the Company's gas plant,
the first of its kind in the Berkine region, on-stream in 2010. Mr. Wright has
more than 20 years of senior level experience in large scale drilling
operations, Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and project execution, and
has a strong understanding of legislation and international codes and conduct.
From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Wright served various senior roles for major
international Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and PMC
contractors, including, managing Iraqi oil and gas infrastructure
redevelopment; managing and developing FEED and EPC works in Saudi Arabia; and
overseeing in excess of 60 million total construction hours. He holds an
honours degree in chemical engineering from Heriot Watt University in
Edinburgh, Scotland.

    Mr. Claude Courtemanche - Vice President, Country Manager

    Mr. Courtemanche has significant experience operating in Algeria as the
Director of PSL Algeria, a subsidiary he established in 2005. As FCP's Algeria
Country Manager, he is the primary focal point of communication between FCP
and Sonatrach, the Company's Algerian partner and will represent the interests
of FCP generally in Algeria. Mr. Courtemanche has 37 years of international
business experience and was previously a Canadian Trade Commissioner, the
President of MTC Canada and personally managed over $700 million of
international EPC contracts, including business development, commercial and
financial negotiations, operation supervision, and strategic alliances with
larger international firms. He holds an MBA from McGill University, Canada and
attended graduate studies in international economy & finance, at the
University of Minnesota.
