                           Statement re press comment

Following certain comments in the press in relation to the strategic review 
update announcement released this morning by Astaire Group PLC ("Astaire") which 
stated: 
 
"The Board is in discussions with a number of parties with a view to either 
achieving a change in majority ownership of the group, which would be likely to 
be achieved by way of a share subscription, potentially requiring a waiver of a 
possible obligation to make a mandatory offer (ie a "whitewash") and other 
regulatory consents or a change in majority ownership of the main operating 
businesses." 
 
The Board of Astaire would hereby like to clarify that it is not in any 
discussions and has not received any approaches which may lead to an offer for 
Astaire and is not aware of any offer being in contemplation.
