MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.,
Dec. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/
-- CEVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: CEVA); (LSE: CVA), the leading licensor
of silicon intellectual property (SIP) platform solutions and DSP
cores today announced a new software-based product offering for
multi-standard DTV demodulation based on its CEVA-XC DSP core. The
company has partnered with Idea! Electronic Systems to develop a
complete, ISDB-T solution based on a multi-standard reference
architecture, including ISDB-T software library functions, ISDB-T
PHY software IP, a universal front-end engine and FEC accelerators.
CEVA and Idea! will demonstrate the solution demodulating an ISDB-T
live signal at CES 2012 in Las
Vegas, from January 10-13th,
2012.
"Our partnership with Idea! delivers a software-based ISDB-T
solution for customers that enables significant cost efficiencies
and shortens design cycles for DTV demodulation," said Eran Briman, vice president of marketing at
CEVA. "Their market-proven expertise in ISDB-T demodulation was at
the forefront of our decision to partner with them. Our
multi-standard DTV reference architecture also supports additional
demodulation standards such as DVB-T2, DVB-T and DTMB via software
upgrades, enabling a single, reusable architecture for universal
DTV designs."
CEVA's partnership with Idea! centers around the ISDB-T
demodulation standard which is widely adopted in South America and Japan. The demonstration of this solution at
CEVA's meeting suite during CES 2012 will be a world first for
real-time, software-based DTV demodulation running on a single,
programmable DSP engine. CEVA's new ISDB-T library functions are
specifically optimized to run on the CEVA-XC, the industry's most
widely adopted DSP core for software-defined communications
processing. These libraries further enhance CEVA's software-defined
radio (SDR) strategy based around the CEVA-XC, which aims to reduce
development costs and time-to-market for communication processor
designs.
"We are pleased to partner with CEVA to deliver a compelling,
highly integrated ISDB-T demodulation solution for the DTV market,"
said Valdiney Pimenta, CEO of Idea!.
"Our best-in-class ISDB-T IP is an excellent fit for their
multi-standard DTV reference architecture, leveraging the
performance of the CEVA-XC DSP to deliver outstanding performance.
We look forward to continued cooperation with CEVA as we address
future requirements in the burgeoning DTV demodulation market."
CEVA's software-based DTV demodulation strategy eliminates the
requirement to have dedicated silicon for each region-specific
demodulation standard in a multi-standard DTV solution today.
Leveraging the fully programmable CEVA-XC DSP, every existing and
future DTV demodulation standard can be supported in software
rather than hardware, significantly reducing the die size, design
complexity and cost of multi-standard DTV demodulation solutions.
In addition, the CEVA-XC processor can support any other air
interface to further differentiate the product, including LTE,
HSPA+ and WiFi.
