Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) Monday said it is targeting another 30 years minimum of oil and gas production from the Bass Strait offshore Victoria state.

Exxon Mobil said that it plans to bring two more fields online in the area and that it will build a new platform to develop the Turrum field.

The U.S-based oil major said its Gippsland joint venture with BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP.AU) is aiming to produce another 1.6 trillion cubic feet of gas and 140 million barrels of oil and gas liquids from the Kipper-Tuna and Turrum projects.

"These projects represent an investment of almost A$3 billion and will be one of the mainstays of Bass Strait production into the future," Exxon Mobil Australia Chairman John Dashwood said in speech notes for a lunch in Melbourne.
