Myanmar Strategic Holdings (LSE: SHWE), an independent developer
and manager of consumer businesses located in Myanmar, is pleased
to announce that the inauguration of the Yangon American
International School ("Yangon American"), the Company's first
international school, took place on Wednesday, 23 October 2019.
The Honourable Ambassador of the United States of America to
Myanmar, H.E. Scot Marciel, presided over the event, which included
a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of a ceremonial
plaque.
Yangon American, a top-tier international school situated in
Yangon, welcomed its first 60 students in August 2019. Classes are
currently in session and open for enrolment for Nursery (age 2-3)
through to Grade 3 (age 8-9). For the next academic year, beginning
in August 2020, Grade 4 (age 9-10) will be added. Yangon American
is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Primary
Years Programme, a curriculum framework designed for students aged
3 to 12.
Commenting on the inauguration of the school, the Honorable
Ambassador of the United States of America to Myanmar, H.E. Scot
Marciel, said: "I am delighted to have been a part of the
inauguration of the Yangon American International School. Equipped
with state-of-the-art technologies and methodology, the school
offers high-quality, American-style educational opportunities to
students in Yangon. Internationally-focused schools like this one
prepare students in Myanmar to be leaders of the future."
Commenting, Enrico Cesenni, Chief Executive Officer of Myanmar
Strategic Holdings, said: "Yangon American's mission is to provide
each student an exemplary 21(st) century American education with an
international perspective, to shape global citizens. It is
therefore a great privilege to be able to welcome The Honourable
Ambassador of the United States of America to Myanmar, H.E. Scot
Marciel, to officially open the school.
"The school is already home to more than 17 nationalities,
making up over 70% of the student body. This reflects both the
Company's and the Myanmar government's attitude that Myanmar is
very much open for international investment. We are pleased that
Yangon American can lead the way as a responsible investor in the
Myanmar education sector."
