The Security Management article cites how Viscount's technology enables a cell phone to replace an employee ID card for door access, a system currently in use by Microsoft Corporation in its Global Security building on the Microsoft campus in Redmond, WA.

The article also discusses how Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing device can integrate with Viscount’s Freedom technology to recognize a person in distress by viewing their gestures, and automatically call for help.
