Sarraf Gentile LLP announces that it is investigating Olympus
Corporation (“Olympus” or the “Company) (OTC: OCPNY.PK; OTC:
OCPNF.PK) in connection with recent governmental inquiries into the
Company.
According to The New York Times, the Securities and Exchange
Commission and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are looking into
the Company’s $687 million payout to Axes America. The F.B.I,
according to the Times, began its examination soon after Olympus
fired its chief executive, who had confronted the Company’s
chairman about the suspect payouts (the Company’s chairman has also
resigned). According to the Times, “it is believed that federal
authorities are possibly interested in whether the fees amounted to
money laundering or other illicit acts.”
