Mexico's auto production continued its brisk growth in November, rising 18% versus the same month a year ago to 207,560 cars and light trucks, the Mexican Automobile Industry Association, or AMIA, said Monday.

It was the best November ever for the Mexican auto industry, fueled mostly by exports to the U.S., where Mexican-made vehicles have just over 11% of market share, AMIA said in a press release.

Total auto exports rose 25% compared with November 2009 to 168,227 units, AMIA said, while domestic sales rose 16% to 75,582 autos.

Production in the first 11 months of the year grew 54% versus the same period last year to 2,089,160 autos.

AMIA said in a press release that economic weakness in key export markets could threaten the industry's continued growth.

"High unemployment in the U.S. and imbalances in public finances in some European Union members presents us with an uncertain panorama for continued recovery in coming months in both regions," the AMIA said.
