A Roth IRA conversion today has an effective start date of 01/01/2024 when considering the 5-year rule for tax free withdrawals. Withdrawals tax-free would begin 01/01/2029. Therefore, only 4 years and 2 weeks from now. Taxes would be paid on 2024 taxes then in 2029 all withdrawals will be tax-free.
