Impala Platinum Halts Shaft Output as Incident Leaves 2 Workers Missing

LONDON--South Africa's Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd.(IMP.JO)
said Tuesday it has suspended production at Impala Rustenburg's 1
Shaft following a ground fall incident that has left two workers
missing.
"All other employees have been safely evacuated from the working
area and a search and rescue operation by mine rescue teams is
underway to locate the two missing miners," the company said.
A company spokeswoman said the company won't know the full
impact of the shaft closure on platinum production until it has
further clarity on what happened at the shaft.
