cancer awareness month and reminds the public to wear sunscreen and get screened
for skin cancer.


Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the world, with the World
Health Organization reporting one in every three cancers diagnosed is a skin
cancer. The incidence of both non-melanoma and melanoma skin cancers have been
increasing at a rate of approximately 3% per year. One in seven Canadians will
develop skin cancer during their lifetime while one in five Americans will, and
over 3.5 million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed annually in the USA. 


The good news is that early detection through regular skin cancer screenings and
the daily use of sunscreen can be highly effective in preventing the spread of
the disease.
