VMS Announces 2009 Exploration Plans for the Copper Project Area, Snow Lake, Manitoba

VMS Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE: VMS) (the "Company") is pleased to
announce the details of the upcoming field program on the Copper
project. The Copper project is situated approximately 45 km south
and east of the town of Snow Lake and consists of 24 claims, three
Mineral Exploration Licenses and one Mineral Lease.
The Copper project is the largest contiguous land package in the
Company's Snow Lake property portfolio with a total area covering
23,908 hectares (92.31 sq miles). Geologically, the project is
underlain by a north-northeast-trending belt of Proterozoic
volcanic rocks similar to those that host multiple base metal
massive sulphide-type deposits in the Snow Lake mining camp. This
belt is host to 3 separate VMS mineralized occurrences, the
Copperman, the Sylvia and the Koff zones. The Copperman deposit is
held under option by VMS Ventures and the Company's southern most
exploration permit covers the 9km of ground separating the claims
hosting the Koff and the Sylvia zones.
Dr. George Gale states: "Given the proximity of two significant
VMS occurrences on either side of the exploration permit, and the
abundant untested airborne conductors identified in the 2008 VTEM
airborne geophysical survey of the claims, the area is considered
to be highly prospective to host additional deposits offering
numerous targets to be investigated."
The northern limit of the project area hosts the Copperman
zinc-copper deposit with non-compliant 43- 101 reserves reported in
Manitoba Government reports as 221,308 tonnes grading 2.63% Cu and
4.46% Zn. Grab samples from trenches at the deposit assayed up to
12% Zn and 2.3% Cu. Currently, the Lease is held under option by
VMS Ventures.
South of the Copperman deposit the highly prospective volcanic
rocks are obscured by the younger covering dolomite rock that
gradually increases in thickness to the south. Accordingly,
indirect methods of exploration based on modern geophysics and
geochemistry techniques are being utilized by the Company to
determine exploration objects for diamond drilling.
Subsequent to the assessment and compilation of previous drill
results, on both the Copperman copperzinc deposit and the Copper
Project, VMS Ventures Inc. conducted an airborne geophysical survey
over the northern part of the property in early 2007 using
GEOTECH's VTEM system. This new airborne geophysics system permits
the recognition of geophysical responses from base
metal-mineralized zones at depths not attainable by historic
airborne systems. A large number of well-defined EM conductors with
associated magnetic responses were identified. These were followed
up in 2008 with reconnaissance soil geochemical surveys to assess
the geophysical anomalies in terms of their base and precious metal
content. This work resulted in the definition of six reduced areas
of anomalous geochemistry within the larger project area. Detailed
soil geochemical surveys based on partial extraction techniques
will be undertaken in 2009 in each of these areas. Modeling of the
geophysical responses is being undertaken by Condor Geophysics of
Lakewood, Colorado and upon completion; integration of the
geophysical and geochemical data will be undertaken. Significant
and coincident geophysical and geochemical responses identified as
"Exploration Objects" will become the focus of follow-up diamond
drilling contemplated for late summer 2009.

and developing copper-zinc properties in the Flin Flon-Snow Lake
VMS Belt. The Company also holds the largest land package
considered prospective for nickel-copper mineralization at Lynn
Lake, which is to date Canada's third largest nickel producing
camp. The Company's project portfolio consists of the Snow Lake VMS
project, the Lynn Lake Gabbros nickel-copper project, the Nickel
Belt project, the South Bay nickel-copper-cobalt PGE property, and
the Eden Lake Carbonatite Complex, Specialty Metals property. All
