Marketwired
SOCIETE D'EXPLORATION MINIERE VIOR INC. (TSX VENTURE:
VIO)(FRANKFURT: VL5) - is pleased to announce that two drilling
programs have simultaneously begun on the Beauchastel and Douay
properties, located in the Abitibi region of Quebec.
Drilling on the Beauchastel Property
A 1,200 to 1,500-metre diamond drilling program has started last
week on the Company's wholly-owned Beauchastel property located
about 15 kilometres WNW of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. This program is
following up on gold intercepts encountered during a 3-short-hole
program completed in 1998 by the Company, where hole BC 98-02 cut
1.08 g/T gold over 19.5 m, including 4.38 g/T gold over 3.0 m, and
another intercept of 6.72 g/T gold over 3.0 m. Hole BC 98-03,
located 75 metres to the west, has cut an intercept of 0.91 g/T
gold over 19.5 m, including 1.44 g/T gold over 9.0 m. These cuts
are found less than 50 metres below surface.
The Property comprises 22 contiguous claims straddling the
Beauchastel and Duprat township boundary for a surface area of 800
hectares underlain by volcanic rocks of the Blake River Group. The
gold mineralization at Beauchastel appears to be associated with
fine-grained pyrite and a feldspathic alteration halo oriented
along NE structures parallel to the Quesabe Fault. The current
drilling program is aiming at defining the geometry and the
possible extensions of the known gold mineralization.
Multi-Target Drilling at Douay
As announced recently, the Company and its partner Aurvista Gold
Corp. wish to confirm that they have started on November 16, 2010,
a 12,000-metre diamond-drilling program on several targets of the
Douay project. The program is aiming at testing numerous targets,
one of which being the lateral and depth extensions of the Douay
Ouest deposit where recent calculations yielded a Measured and
Indicated Resource of 313,000 tonnes at 7.75 g/T gold, and an
additional Inferred Resource of 267,000 tonnes at 8.53 g/T gold
(press release of January 28th, 2010). Other drill holes within the
Douay Ouest deposit will have the goal of shifting categories from
resources into reserves. The current drilling program will also be
testing near-surface mineralized extensions of the Porphyre Zone,
as well as the unexplored sectors along the Contact Zone located at
the interface between conglomerates and syenitic intrusions. The
program should be ongoing until ice break-up in spring 2011.
Assay results from both drilling programs will be released on a
regular basis as they become available. Work will be supervised by
Mr. Marc L'Heureux who is the Company's Qualified Person under
National Instrument 43-101.
