Chef MacKay prepared the winning meal at Peller Estates Winery during last night's season finale. Judges Mark McEwan, Thea Andrews and Shereen Azrazm invited John Peller and Executive Winery Chef Jason Parsons as guest judges during the final taping of the season finale to weigh in on the meals created by finalists Connie DeSousa, Rob Rossi and Dale MacKay. The meal, which included an Amuse Bouche with the secret ingredient of Peller Estates Cabernet Franc Icewine, was prepared in the Peller Estates kitchen and served in the winery's dining room. "It was great to be part of something so important to the Canadian culinary scene," said John Peller. "At Peller Estates we strive to be a leader in Canadian wine and food, and it's wonderful to be included in a show like this that showcases exceptional local cuisine, ingredients, and Canadian culinary talent." The three finalists prepared dishes of their choice, showcasing creativity, talent and innovation to tip the judges' votes in their favour. The chefs created meals that ranged from rustic to high-end and left the judges with a very hard decision. All of the dishes were paired with Peller Estates premium vintages. After the meal, Host Thea Andrews thanked Chef Parsons' for the use of his kitchen and John Peller for opening up his winery to Top Chef Canada. After toasting with Peller Estates Ice Cuvée Rosé, the judges left to deliberate the winner. In the end, MacKay's decidedly more cohesive meal came out on top and he was named Top Chef Canada.
