ROYAL LONDON UK EQUITY & INCOME TRUST PLC ("the Company")

DISCLOSURE OF INTERESTS IN SHARES



The Company has today been notified by Aberdeen Asset Management PLC ("AAM") on
behalf of its fund management operating subsidiaries* that, as a result of its
acquisition of Edinburgh Fund

Managers Group Plc on 24 October 2003, these subsidiaries now control as
managers an additional 2,000,000 ordinary 1p shares in the Company.


The total number of ordinary shares in the Company now under the management of
AAM's operating subsidiaries is 12,732,174 ordinary shares, representing 18.19%
of the issued share capital of that class.


* AAM's UK fund management subsidiaries are:

Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited

Edinburgh Fund Managers Limited

Murray Johnstone Limited
