Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), the wholesale arm of Deutsche Telekom AG, announced today that Telna in North America and dtac in Thailand have signed contracts for Deutsche Telekom’s Wi-Fi Mobilize solution. The solution gives Telna’s and dtac’s customers access to the largest commercial-grade global Wi-Fi footprint- available with more than 700.000 hotspots in 117 countries and territories worldwide.

Telna (Telecom North America) is a global mobile operator specializing in reducing international roaming costs (voice, SMS and data) for travellers worldwide. Its products are sold under its own brand in North America, and via resellers and to MVNOs worldwide.

dtac is currently the second largest mobile operator in Thailand with a subscriber base of approx. 23.4 million.

For both companies the unique and easy-to-use Wi-Fi Mobilize solution is a perfect addition to their product portfolio.

Wi-Fi Mobilize, a complete single solution, combines best worldwide hotspot coverage with a downloadable operator-branded client for authentication and authorization which is key to provide excellent user experience. The end customers’ Wi-Fi consumption can easily be billed through the existing relationship with the operator. Subscribers using smartphones or tablets benefit from a seamless connectivity experience wherever they are, whenever they want. Through a small client on these devices, operators can let their subscribers conveniently switch between 3G and Wi-Fi networks.

In 2011 ICSS received the Capacity Magazine Judges Award 2011 for Wi-Fi Mobilize. The solution was awarded for increasing profitability and efficiency for operators and for simplifying the expansion of data roaming while adding high value to end customers.

“As a truly international provider,” said Holger Magnussen, Senior Vice President International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS) at Deutsche Telekom, “we are happy to see, that our innovative Wi-Fi Mobilize solution not only persuades wholesale customers and their customers in Europe, but also on other continents worldwide.”
