CLIPPER VENTURES PLC SIGNS US$1 MILLION SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE WITH CITY OF PERTH,
                          AUSTRALIA FOR 2005 RACE

Clipper Ventures PLC ("the Company") today announced that the State of Western
Australia ("WA") will be one of the sponsors of the Company's prestigious
Clipper 2005 Round the World Yacht Race in a US$1million deal.

The sponsorship enables WA to emblazon one of the ten 68-foot yachts with
imagery of the State and hence act as a roving tourism ambassador across the
five continents that the yachts will visit in their 35,000 nautical mile race.

William Ward, Chief Executive Officer said, "Thirteen cities will be visited
during the 10 month race and this agreement follows the #1.8 million sponsorship
by the City of Liverpool announced earlier this week. We are progressing with
additional sponsorships in our nation versus nation format and hope to announce
these over the coming months."

The Company believes that its 2005 Race format of city sponsorship agreements
and increasing the fleet size to 10 longer yachts, will enable a three fold
increase in revenues over its 2002 race.

Chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, added : "These are exciting times for Clipper
Ventures and we are delighted to have secured the first rate event hosting
services that Fremantle offers. Western Australia is famous for its brilliant
blue skies and warm sunny climate; attributes sure to prove popular with the
visiting Clipper crews."

The Clipper 2005 event will start from Liverpool (UK) in September 2005 and
follow the longest route of all round the world races. The sole Australasian
stopover is scheduled for late December 2005 in Fremantle, before the 10-strong
racing fleet heads for the islands of Indonesia and then China.

After crossing the top of the North Pacific, the teams will then race to Panama
City before sprinting across the Caribbean. Then it's up the East Coast of the
United States and back across the Atlantic for a dramatic finale in Liverpool.

Tourism Minister for Western Australia, Bob Kucera, said: "The tourism benefits
of our participation in this event are considerable. Firstly, our host port
status will mean an extended stay by the 10-strong fleet, associated support
groups and media. There will also be the opportunity to promote Western
Australia through all 12 stages of the race, as the fleet travels through some
of our key tourism markets in Asia and Europe.
