Consumer goods giant Unilever NV (UNA.AE) said Monday that it is
aiming to cut back by half its use of new plastic packaging by
2025.
The company said that it is targeting a floor of 25% recycled
plastic in its packaging by the same date.
"Plastic has its place, but that place is not in the
environment," said Unilever Chief Executive Alan Jope.
As part of the goals, the company said it will also try and
collect and process more plastic packaging than it sells. This will
require helping to collect about 600,000 tons of plastic annually
by 2025.
