Graco Children's Products Inc. is voluntarily recalling more
than 89,000 wood high chairs sold at major retailers in the U.S.
and Canada because of a danger that children could fall from the
seats, product safety regulators said.
Graco, which sells other popular baby products including car
seats and strollers, has received 58 reports of the high chairs'
seats loosening or detaching from the base, the U.S. Consumer
Product Safety Commission said.
There have been nine reports of children falling from the seats,
and receiving bumps and bruises. One child in Canada got a
concussion from a fall, according to a report the company
received.
Graco's Classic Wood Highchairs sold for around $130 between
Sept. 2007 and Dec. 2010 at Burlington Coat Factory and Toys "R" Us
Inc.'s (TOY.XX) Babies R Us stores, as well as online at Target
Corp. (TGT) and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) websites.
The chairs come in three wood finishes, with a top seat and a
beige fabric seat cover, bottom leg assembly, and removable
tray.
Customers are advised to stop using the high chairs immediately
and contact the company for a free repair kit.
The chairs were made in China.
