SRA Launches Privacy Protection Program Information Technology Firm
to Provide Comprehensive Solutions to Federal Government Clients
FAIRFAX, Va., March 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Recognizing the
growing impact of privacy concerns on both the public and private
sectors, SRA International, Inc. (NYSE:SRX) today announced the
launch of a privacy protection program. The program will provide
proactive, comprehensive, and innovative solutions to privacy
concerns by identifying and mitigating potential privacy risks
during all phases of systems design and development. The solutions
designed by SRA will help federal government clients increase
protection for personal information, ensure that privacy
protections are integrated with security throughout planning and
operation of IT systems, and enhance privacy risk mitigation
through proactive approaches. Privacy protection is an evolving
area that encompasses a broad spectrum of regulatory, policy,
process, design, and systems challenges. SRA has developed an
integrated privacy and security approach called PILLAR(SM) --
Privacy Information Life Cycle Assessment Road Map. The PILLAR
process integrates privacy into every aspect of the systems
development life cycle, promotes building public trust through
outreach and incident management strategies, and is flexible enough
to add value at any phase of the systems development life cycle.
SRA also provides privacy training for personnel, develops privacy
impact assessments, helps integrate privacy policy across a federal
agency or department, and offers strategic consulting on business
processes that support privacy. Key clients of the SRA privacy
program include the Department of Homeland Security, where SRA
provides support and strategic advice on privacy and related
issues. In addition, SRA assists the Department of Health and Human
Services in determining appropriate measures for safeguarding
employment information and complying with Federal privacy
requirements. "Government agencies and departments are faced with
the difficult challenge of providing maximum privacy protection
without hindering the objectives of security initiatives as well as
information sharing between organizations and across systems,"
according to SRA President and CEO Renny DiPentima. "Legislative
mandates and guidance intended to ensure protections have to be
translated into solutions that incorporate privacy protection
throughout the entire systems development life cycle. The SRA
process combines our experience and knowledge of both privacy and
security with a comprehensive approach to help our clients protect
their customers' and constituents' privacy and the integrity of
their data. A point solution will not suffice in today's
environment where data sharing is crucial." About SRA
