/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Satyam Computer Services Ltd. (NYSE:SAY),
a global consulting and information technology services provider,
announced today that Rain CII Carbon, the world's leading producer
of calcined petroleum coke, was awarded a Progressive Manufacturing
100 Award by Managing Automation Media. The award recognizes
best-in-class manufacturers from around the world. Rain CII Carbon
was selected from among hundreds of companies for its work with
Satyam to reengineer its plant turnaround processes. Satyam helped
Rain CII Carbon cut turnaround time by 25 percent at its
manufacturing plants in Gramercy, Louisiana and Robinson, Illinois,
yielding significantly improved productivity and output at both
facilities. "We are honored to be recognized as one of the world's
most advanced manufacturers," said Stephen L. Rowland, Rain CII
Carbon's Chief Operating Officer. "Satyam's solution has helped put
us at the leading-edge of manufacturing practices, improving our
operational efficiency, productivity and competitiveness. As a
result, we are better positioned to weather the current economic
climate and exploit the recovery when it occurs," he added. Satyam
consultants helped Rain CII Carbon apply the Theory of Constraints
(TOC), a management technique developed by Israeli physicist
Eliyahu Goldratt, to key plant operations and maintenance
processes. Satyam devised and implemented a solution based on the
TOC's Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) methodology, which
has been used in numerous projects to ensure on-time (or
ahead-of-schedule) project completion, without changing original
project scope and budget. "Satyam's advanced solutions, delivery
excellence and close partnership with Rain CII Carbon helped them
improve an already-excellent business process, and we are delighted
to see them recognized for world-class innovation in
manufacturing," said Dr. Keshab Panda, Global Head for Satyam's
Manufacturing & Automotive Group. In addition to being named a
member of the elite Progressive Manufacturing 100, Rain CII Carbon
will be considered for Managing Automation's prestigious
Progressive Manufacturer of the Year Award or one of eight High
Achiever Awards. About Rain CII Carbon Rain CII is the world's
leading producer of calcined petroleum coke. Its operations include
calcining plants in the United States and India with a total annual
