LONDON--Anglo American PLC (AAl.LN), the world's fifth-biggest
diversified mining company, Wednesday said Themba Mkhwanazi will
replace Godfrey Gomwe as the chief executive of its coal business
in South Africa, effective during the second quarter of 2014.
"Themba Mkhwanazi brings extensive international operating
experience gained across his two decades in the resources industry,
including 16 years in South Africa and more recently in the U.S.,"
said Seamus French, CEO of Anglo American's coal business.
Mr. Mkhwanazi is currently Rio Tinto's Regional General Manager
for the Americas, responsible for delivering technical and
operational improvements across Rio Tinto's businesses.
Anglo American PLC shares at 1333 GMT traded up 19 pence, or
1.2%, at GBP15.21, valuing the company at GBP21.21 billion.
