LaBarge Awarded $1.2 Million Contract From O-I for Glass Inspection Machines ST. LOUIS, May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LaBarge, Inc. (AMEX:LB) has been awarded a $1.2 million contract from O-I (NYSE:OI) to manufacture inspection machines that detect flaws in glass containers. A newly designed model, the sophisticated inspection machine can detect a variety of defects such as variations in thickness, cracks, inclusions or other impurities in glass containers made to hold food, beverages, and household and personal care items. The Company anticipates additional work on the program. LaBarge will manufacture the inspection machines at its Pittsburgh facility. Production is expected to begin in May and continue through June 2005. LaBarge's Pittsburgh facility manufactures more than 1,200 different electronic and electromechanical assemblies used by O-I to control industrial processes and facilitate automated inspection of glass containers.
