Aruba Central Has Achieved this Important
Security Milestone as the Federal Government Looks to Modernize
Infrastructure and Accelerate Transition to the Cloud Safely and
Securely
Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (NYSE: HPE), today
announced that its Aruba Central cloud-native network operations
and analytics platform has achieved a formal “Authorized”
designation with the Federal Risk and Authorization Management
Program (FedRAMP). With today’s announcement, Aruba Central becomes
a cloud-based networking solution for unified WLAN, switching, and
VPN edge-to-cloud infrastructure that is compliant with the Office
of Management and Budget’s (OMB) FedRAMP Policy and can be
leveraged for use across the federal government.
FedRAMP is a U.S. government program whose mission is to promote
the adoption of secure cloud services across the Federal Government
by providing a standardized approach to security and risk
assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud
products and services. Designed to simplify security for the
digital age, FedRAMP enables federal, state, and local government
agencies to rapidly transition to mission-enabling, secure, and
cost-effective cloud-based IT. Based on the widely-adopted NIST SP
800-53 set of security controls, FedRAMP has also achieved wide
recognition among non-government consumers of IT services. Mappings
are available between NIST and other popular security frameworks,
allowing organizations of any type to accept FedRAMP accreditations
within their risk management programs.
“We’re seeing our government customers migrate an increasing
number of workloads to public, private, and hybrid cloud
environments, and this is placing an increased emphasis on FedRAMP
compliance,” said Dolan Sullivan, vice president of Federal for
Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company. “Security is built-in
to our solutions from the ground up and today’s announcement
underscores Aruba’s commitment to helping government customers
modernize their networks and leverage innovative technologies to
solve their most pressing IT challenges while mitigating risk.”
Aruba Central is a powerful cloud-based solution designed to
simplify and secure campus, branch, remote, and data center
networks. As the single point of control for Aruba ESP (Edge
Services Platform), Aruba Central delivers enhancements such as
AI-powered analytics, IoT device profiling for security, and
valuable metadata to enable business intelligence and uniquely help
accelerate an organization’s edge-to-cloud digital transformation.
With cloud-based deployment, centralized management and control,
and flexible support service options, government IT departments can
experience Aruba’s best-in-class technology in a SaaS-based model –
and, in turn, enhance IT operations and create greater value for
their organization.
“Building Aruba Central with cloud-native technologies allows us
to meet the massive scaling requirements of our highly-networked
customer base,” said Jon Green, chief security officer for Aruba.
“However, delivering services from the public cloud always results
in security and risk management concerns. Our customers are being
asked to trust us to take care of their data without themselves
having direct visibility into our security practices.
Accreditations like FedRAMP provide assurance to our customers that
an independent, Federally-authorized auditing organization has
inspected each of our security controls and found them sufficient.
With today’s announcement, Aruba becomes the only networking
provider in the industry who can offer a cloud-native management
system hosted in the public cloud – and support on-premises
deployments – to address any organization’s security
requirements.”
