PR Newswire (US)
DENVER, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Global Med
Technologies(R), Inc.'s (OTC:GLOB) (BULLETIN BOARD: GLOB) CEO, Dr.
Mick Ruxin, today announced that Global Med's Wyndgate
Technologies(R) division and Florida's Blood Centers (FBC), one of
the nation's leading independent blood banks, have signed an
agreement for the Company's Vein-to-Vein(R) software, SafeTrace(R)
donor management, SafeTrace Tx(R) advanced transfusion management,
and ElDorado(TM) Donor Doc(TM), Wyndgate's newest software
offering. With a value of several million dollars over a five-year
period, Florida's Blood Centers will be the largest user of
Wyndgate's Vein-to-Vein software on the East Coast. Specific terms
of the agreement were not disclosed. (Logo:

K. Chinoda, President and Chief Executive Officer of Florida's
Blood Centers, stated, "We evaluated many of the blood bank systems
on the market and chose SafeTrace and SafeTrace Tx for a number of
reasons. Namely, the system provides us with the ability to
streamline our business processes, providing added functionality
and reporting features. Additionally, we feel we have the assurance
of a successful implementation, including training and education,
in a timeframe that meets our needs." Dr. Ruxin, Chairman and CEO
of Global Med Technologies, Inc., commented, "We are particularly
gratified by this vote of confidence from FBC in our Vein-to-Vein
software system. We believe that this multi-year, multi-million
dollar contract presages the future direction of Global Med
Technologies." Florida's Blood Centers, the largest blood center in
Florida, is the sole supplier of blood and blood products to 72
healthcare facilities in a 21- county area. It was searching for a
software solution that could replace the existing system that
supported both donor collections and transfusion. FBC found this
solution with Wyndgate's Vein-to-Vein blood management software.
With nearly 350,000 units of blood and blood products labeled
annually, SafeTrace will allow FBC to streamline many of its
critical processes and help assure the safety of the blood products
provided to area hospitals. SafeTrace Tx, a powerful transfusion
service management information system, is designed to fully support
FBC's enterprise-wide centralized transfusion services (CTS)
management, including advanced functionality such as electronic and
remote crossmatch, automated patient special needs and
antigen/antibody screens. With the purchase of ElDorado Donor Doc,
Florida's Blood Centers becomes the first to implement this
electronic health history questionnaire and physical exam tracking
system. Recently cleared by the FDA for sale in the U.S., Donor Doc
will assist FBC with screening donors and capturing relevant
medical information. This next-generation software, the first
module of Wyndgate's planned ElDorado suite of blood management
products, has been designed to automate screening processes to
provide data quality assurance and support regulatory compliance.
The system is intended to interface with SafeTrace and will allow
FBC to easily access donation information. Thomas F. Marcinek,
President and Chief Operating Officer of Wyndgate Technologies,
commented, "Over the past three years, Wyndgate has had the
opportunity to work with Florida's Blood Centers as they thoroughly
researched an appropriate software solution for their complex
organization's blood management system. We have been very impressed
with the professionalism shown by the management and staff of
Florida's Blood Centers. Furthermore, we are very pleased with the
quality of our business relationship and the mutual respect we have
developed for one another." Mr. Marcinek continued, "FBC has a rich
history of being the forerunner of new developments in the blood
industry. Wyndgate is particularly proud that FBC has continued
this legacy by being the first to purchase our newest software
product, ElDorado Donor Doc. We look forward to meeting their needs
now and long into the future." About Florida's Blood Centers
Florida's Blood Centers was established in 1942, shortly after the
start of World War II. During its 65 years, FBC has consistently
provided the communities it serves with a safe and adequate blood

offers HLA tissue matching, bone- marrow donor registration and a
full-service tissue and eye bank. It was one of the first blood
centers in the country to implement new capabilities and services
such as frozen blood storage, a national clearinghouse system for
exchanging blood, community branches and bloodmobile collection.
FBC's management is actively involved in shaping the future safety
of the world's blood supply. Anne Chinoda, President and CEO, is
part of a global task force of international leaders representing
