Baltimore Gas and Electric Company to Assist FirstEnergy Following Winter Storms in New Jersey and Ohio BALTIMORE, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG), today announced that 25 company and 11 contractor crews will be departing for the Akron, Ohio and Morristown, N.J. areas, to assist with restoration efforts in the wake of snow and ice storms that have interrupted electric service to more than 145,000 FirstEnergy customers. Crews will depart Baltimore at approximately 4:30 p.m. BGE is maintaining sufficient staff to continue to provide reliable service within its Central Maryland service territory. "BGE is pleased to assist FirstEnergy as it works around-the-clock to restore service to its customers," said Mark P. Huston, vice president of electric transmission and distribution for BGE. "We recognize the immediacy associated with restoring electricity to customers who live in areas with bitter cold temperatures as well as the challenge of working in icy and snowy conditions. With that in mind, BGE's crews will work with FirstEnergy to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible." BGE is a member of several mutual assistance networks which meet regularly to discuss utility issues and assess personnel availability during severe weather events affecting member utilities.
