The European Commission's antitrust body said Friday it has cleared U.S. technology firm Danaher Corp. (DHR) to buy medical testing company Beckman Coulter (BEC).

The Commission concluded that the merged entity would continue to have significant rivals in the fields it covers and therefore the deal wouldn't harm competition in the European Union.
