Ameriprise Financial Gives Nearly $2 million in Grant Funding to Help Families and Individuals in Need

In recognition of the firm’s 130th
anniversary, Ameriprise also donated an additional $130,000 to
hunger relief organizations, providing more than one million meals
to people in need
Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (NYSE: AMP) today announced it
recently donated nearly $2 million to nonprofits across the U.S. as
part of its first-round of 2024 grants. In conjunction with its
robust volunteer program, the company awards grant dollars to
nonprofits twice annually to strengthen communities and help
individuals meet their basic needs and find paths to financial
independence.
“Too many Americans lack access to basic needs such as food,
emergency shelter, and affordable housing -- as well as job
training and employment opportunities that could help put them on a
path to economic self-sufficiency,” said Jennifer Jones, vice
president of community relations at Ameriprise. “We have a
longstanding commitment to nonprofits that provide these essential
resources to individuals and families in need. We are proud to
continue our support and help our nonprofit partners strengthen and
foster resilient communities.”
Highlights from Ameriprise’s First Round Grantee
Ameriprise is dedicated to leveraging its resources and talents
to improve the lives of individuals and families while helping
build strong communities.
A few grant highlights include:
- The Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, Charlotte,
N.C. provides nutritious meals to kids who are at risk of
hunger when they are on summer break and no longer have access to
school meals. The grant from Ameriprise Financial supports general
operations for the food bank, making it possible for them to
distribute more than 78 million pounds of food each year for
approximately 3.8 million individuals.
- Lake Street Council, in Minneapolis, Minn. focuses on
community development and revitalizing small businesses and
fostering community growth through various projects and programs.
The Lake Street Council received $20,000 from Ameriprise Financial
to fund small business support programs. Founded in 1968, the
Minneapolis nonprofit’s mission is to foster economic vitality and
amplify Lake Street's vibrancy to create a thriving and livable
commercial corridor.
- Founded in 1974, Rosie’s Place, in Boston, Mass. was the
first women’s shelter in the United States. Today, their mission
remains to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the more
than 12,000 women who depend on their services for support,
housing, and education services. Funding from Ameriprise Financial
supports Rosie’s Place’s emergency and stabilization services,
helping women meet their basic and critical needs and make a fresh
start.
- American Corporate Partners (ACP) in New York, N.Y. is
dedicated to helping Veterans and active-duty military members and
their spouses transition to the private sector through one-on-one
mentoring with business leaders. They believe that the biggest
issue facing our returning service members is not unemployment –
it’s underemployment. Since the start of the partnership, 87
Ameriprise mentors have supported over 130 proteges with their
professional development.
130 years of strengthening communities at Ameriprise
In its 15-year partnership with Feeding America, Ameriprise has
donated more than 125 million meals to people in need – and, in
honor of its 130-year anniversary, the company has a goal of
exceeding 130 million by the end of 2024. Ameriprise will also
provide special grants to Feeding America and Global FoodBanking
