SINGAPORE--Garuda Indonesia (GIAA.JK PSEOY) expects to finalize
an order for 50 new turboprop planes for its budget airline
Citilink by the end of the year, Emirsyah Satar, the flag carrier's
president and chief executive, said Wednesday.
Mr. Satar said Garuda is in final discussions with Canada's
Bombardier Inc. (BBD.A.T) and ATR, an equal partnership between
Alenia Aermacchi S.p.A and European Aeronautic Defence and Space
Co. (EAD.FR), or EADS. He didn't give more details.
In February, Garuda's smaller Indonesian rival, Lion Air,
ordered 27 additional ATR planes, bringing its total order from the
European firm to 60.
