SLS International's Speakers Installed In North Carolina's Oldest Catholic Church Company Continues Rapid Penetration of Religious Market NEW BERN, N.C., May 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SLS International (OTC:SITI) (BULLETIN BOARD: SITI) announced today that its loud speakers and sound systems were installed in St. Paul's Catholic Church, North Carolina's oldest Catholic Church. Located in the city of New Bern, the Church has installed multiple SLS Loudspeakers in its new sanctuary. F.C. Schafer Consulting spearheaded the installation of the top-of-the-line audio system in the new and contemporary, semi-circle shaped auditorium. "I specifically chose SLS because of the ribbon technology and the fact that we were able to get an excellent sounding speaker that was not too big but gave us the coverage we needed," said Schafer, president of F.C. Schafer Consulting. "We have been so pleased with the support from SLS throughout the project. They went a step further, not only providing us with a cost effective system for St. Paul's, but they were involved through the final stages of testing and tuning. SLS also assisted us by custom modifying the floor speakers, which were placed on a concrete-stone step." With the chancel more centered, and the congregation surrounding the celebrants on three sides, Schafer was faced with many challenges. The fairly reverberant room had to be bright enough to support an electric organ with multiple speakers, which led to obstacles maintaining speech and musical intelligibility. "The congregation needs to be able to sense that the celebrant is speaking from the chancel and the choir is singing from the choir loft, which is off to the side," added Schafer. "We were able to do this by taking the speakers near the choir and leaning them forward. By positioning them this way, they fill up the first third of the room. The remaining speakers are aimed to fill the far seats on the other side of the chancel. When a celebrant is speaking in the front, the sound is directed from the chancel." Founded in 1821, St. Paul's now houses a school, convent, cemetery, family life center and rectory. The new 1,200-seat facility, which tripled the seating of the church, has five weekend services in addition to its weekly morning masses. It also features strikingly modern architecture and is in a large, park-like setting.
