WOONSOCKET, R.I. and REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 29
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CVS Caremark (NYSE:CVS) today announced
the expansion of its partnership with Microsoft HealthVault. Now,
CVS/pharmacy customers have the ability to securely download their
prescription histories to their individual Microsoft HealthVault
record. By visiting CVS.com, consumers who fill their prescriptions
at CVS/pharmacy stores can now easily add their prescription
history into their HealthVault record. (Logo:

Caremark has been a partner with Microsoft HealthVault since June
2008. Consumers using CVS Caremark for pharmacy benefit management
services can already store, organize, and manage their prescription
history information online using Microsoft's HealthVault platform.
In addition, patients who receive treatment at MinuteClinic, the
retail-based health clinic subsidiary of CVS Caremark, can securely
import their visit summaries and laboratory test results into their
personal HealthVault record. "All of the consumers we serve -
whether they are CVS/pharmacy customers, CVS Caremark plan
participants or visitors to our MinuteClinic locations - can now
easily download their prescription history into their Microsoft
HealthVault record," said Helena Foulkes, Executive Vice President
at CVS Caremark. "By enabling patients to download their
prescription information directly into their personal HealthVault
record, we are helping them access and maintain a more complete
view of their medication history, one that can easily be shared and
discussed with the health care providers who are managing their
overall health." "The expansion of the HealthVault and CVS Caremark
partnership allows a greater number of people to easily manage
prescription information for themselves and their families," said
David Cerino, general manager of consumer health in Microsoft's
Health Solutions Group. "This not only helps consumers take better
control of their medication plans but also enables individuals to
provide their physicians with visibility to their prescription
history for better coordination of care." To use the tool,
customers of CVS/pharmacy must first be signed up for the
Prescription Management feature on CVS.com. This feature also
allows registered customers to manage their prescriptions online,
including ordering refills, choosing pickup locations, requesting
prescription renewals and receiving alerts on generic alternatives.
In order to maintain patient privacy, the consumer making the
request for information will need to be authenticated on the
cvs.com Web site before any data is shared with Microsoft
HealthVault. About Microsoft HealthVault Microsoft HealthVault is a
