Salesforce.com Provides Complimentary Licenses to Non-Profits as
Part of Ongoing Global Initiative to Build the Capacity of
Non-Profit Organizations Through Technology Solutions SAN
FRANCISCO, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Salesforce Foundation,
the global leader in integrating philanthropy and business,
announced today their partnership with Little Kids Rock. Little
Kids Rock of America, a national nonprofit organization dedicated
to restoring music to its rightful place in the academic lives of
kids in our public schools, is using salesforce.com's award-winning
CRM service to manage program activities, donations, track funding
and grants, plan program expansion and communicate easily with
volunteers, donors and clients about upcoming events and programs.
Using the complimentary user licenses for its teachers and a
Partner Portal Toolkit from salesforce.com, Little Kids Rock was
able to create a customized teacher portal that allows instructors
to input and access critical and time- sensitive data in order to
make informed decisions when planning and carrying out their
programs. (Logo:

were donated to Little Kids Rock by salesforce.com with program
support provided by the Salesforce Foundation. The leader in fully
integrating business and the community, the Salesforce Foundation
is chartered with helping salesforce.com execute their goal of
donating 1 percent of their product to the community annually, 1
percent of founding equity to community programs and 1 percent of
employee working hours to volunteerism. To this end, the Foundation
has teamed with salesforce.com to provide their award-winning CRM
service, as well as training, administration and support services,
at no cost to more than 750 nonprofit and nongovernmental
organizations worldwide. The program, which has saved nonprofit
organizations over $7 million in product and services since its
1999 launch, enables these organizations to streamline business
processes in order to focus efforts on community service success.
Prior to implementing Salesforce, Little Kids Rock used paper-based
data collection. However, as the organization expanded across four
states and participation in the program grew in the thousands, the
paper method was unable to efficiently manage enrollment and
program planning. Little Kids Rock lacked a centralized and
effective system for collecting class and student data, tracking
program statistics and communicating with teachers. The inability
to analyze program statistics in a timely manner negatively
impacted program management and fundraising plans. Salesforce.com
employee volunteers and salesforce.com partner, Theikos, a leading
provider of CRM implementation, development and value-added
solutions, helped Little Kids Rock create a custom portal that
enables teachers to submit class and student data and implement
Salesforce CRM across its locations. The data entered through the
portal is updated in Salesforce and analyzed on demand using
reports and dashboards. Salesforce CRM solutions allows Little Kids
Rock to efficiently manage instrument donations, funding and grants
attainment and communications to its constituents. Little Kids Rock
now enjoys access to program statistics in real-time and is able to
communicate with teachers more effectively. Jon Cohen, a teacher in
an elementary school in Oakland California recalled, "The custom
portal has helped me stay connected to Little Kids Rock. I now feel
like I'm part of a bigger family. It is incredible to be able to
get the latest resources from Little Kids Rock in real-time, assess
my students' progress and order instruments. And best of all, I now
get my instruments delivered more quickly and can get my classes
started sooner than ever before! The impact of the implementation
was felt immediately by teachers and students alike." "Armed with
Salesforce, Little Kids Rock is poised for rapid growth with plans
to serve new geographies and students. The custom portal offered an
ideal solution that provided an easy way to integrate with
Salesforce.com and a flexible platform to support future growth,"
said Laura Subotky, Chief Operating Officer, Little Kids Rock.
"Using Salesforce as a management tool has changed us in a way we
couldn't have imagined at the start. The power of it keeps
unfolding." About Salesforce Foundation Salesforce Foundation's
fundamental mission is to enable community success and build the
capacity of nonprofit organizations. As the leader in integrating
philanthropy and business, the Foundation has pioneered the 1/1/1
model for corporate philanthropic change. This model delivers 1
percent of salesforce.com's product to the nonprofit community, 1
percent of founding equity to community programs and 1 percent of
employee working hours to volunteerism. The Foundation has built a
new model to support how corporations can more deeply serve the
communities in which they operate. The Foundation also strives to
better the lives of youth by supporting technology and educational
programs in underserved communities both in the U.S. and abroad.
Since July 2000, the Foundation has opened more than 60 Community
Technology Centers across the globe serving nearly 100,000 youth
and other community members; has provided nearly 20,000 hours of
service to the community through salesforce.com's employee
volunteers; and supports salesforce.com in its efforts to offer its
award-winning on-demand customer relationship management
application to more than 700 qualified nonprofits globally, saving
the sector millions of dollars every year. It is the recipient of
the national 2003 Points of Awards award for Excellence in
Corporate Community Service and the national 2003 U.S. Chamber of
Commerce first annual Corporate Stewardship Award. More information

Kids Rock Little Kids Rock believes that music is a critical
component of first-rate education. Many elementary schools have
been stripped of their music programs. These cuts have had a
disproportionately large impact on children from low- income
backgrounds. Little Kids Rock restores music to its rightful place
in the academic lives of kids in our public schools by providing a
rich music education program including instrument instruction, free
instruments and trained mentors. Founded by a single elementary
school teacher in 1996, Little Kids Rock is now serving thousands
of students in CA, NY, NJ and TN. Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, B.B.
King, Jason Newsted, Steve Vai, Brad Delson, Dave Mason, James
Burton and Les Paul sit on our Honorary Board of Directors and we
are supported by friends Tom Waits, Carlos Santana, Phish, Bob Weir
