Glowpoint, Inc. (NASDAQ: GLOW) today kicked off its IP-based
broadcasting service for NFL Network, the only television network
dedicated to the NFL and the sport of football, for the 2005-2006
season. GlowPoint's technology enables all 32 teams to connect
instantly during this summer's NFL training camps and continuing
throughout the regular season, playoffs and Super Bowl. The video
communication solution uses a combination of GlowPoint and Sony
technology to provide "Team Cam" interviews with coaches and
players on NFL Network's signature show, NFL Total Access. During
the "Team Cam" segments, Rich Eisen, host of NFL Total Access, will
conduct live face-to-face interviews with multiple players from
different NFL teams and locations to discuss the latest news taking
place around the league. In addition, during the regular season,
NFL Network will utilize the IP-based solution to broadcast
Monday's head coach press conferences from around the country. NFL
Network currently reaches more than 27 million homes across the
United States and internationally. "The ability to receive live
footage from any NFL team facility at a moment's notice is one of
the keys to NFL Network's success," said Peter Brickman, senior
director of broadcasting operations and technology at the NFL. "By
using a combination of Sony's state-of-the-art videoconferencing
and broadcast equipment and GlowPoint's IP-based network services
and applications, NFL Network can leverage a flexible, reliable and
high quality video communications service throughout the NFL season
in a variety of unique ways." "Providing NFL Network with a way to
deliver real time, face-to-face interviews with players and coaches
throughout the season illustrates the value of the solution we're
offering with Sony to broadcasters both in the studio and on
location," said David Trachtenberg, chief executive officer at
GlowPoint. "Working with NFL Network is a perfect platform to
exhibit the exceptional video and audio quality we are able to
provide, while illustrating how flexible and cost-effective an
IP-based broadcasting solution truly is." Sony Electronics, the
nation's leading provider of professional video and audio equipment
to the broadcast and production industries, and GlowPoint
originally announced the development of the first complete
standards-based IP video communications solution designed to meet
the specific needs of television broadcasters this past April. The
bundled offering combines Sony's state-of-the-art IPELA(TM) line of
audio/visual communication systems with GlowPoint's patent-pending
advanced IP-based video applications and network services. With a
24/7 network operations center, advanced management tools and
available on-site support, GlowPoint is the world's leading
provider of IP-based broadcast services for major networks and live
broadcast events. The combined solution provides on-demand
broadcasting, with always-on network connectivity, and reduces
transport costs by up to 80 percent as compared to satellite feeds.
