Company Formalizes Community Support Programs BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 27, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SpectraLink Corp. (NASDAQ:SLNK) and its employees are no strangers to community service. Since the company opened its doors for business in 1990, it has teamed with employees to provide hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless hours in volunteer time to local charities. This year, SpectraLink is taking its community commitment to the next level by formalizing its community relations program. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050324/LATH060LOGO ) To kick off the new program, SpectraLink is reinforcing its dedication to the local community by launching a volunteer time-off (VTO) program. The VTO program allows full-time, Boulder-based employees to take up to two days of paid VTO each year to volunteer at a number of local organizations aimed at helping people in need. While many companies offer financial support to charitable organizations, few actually encourage employees to take paid time-off to volunteer within the local community. Since announcing its VTO program in late August, employees have already taken advantage of the policy by volunteering to aid Hurricane Katrina relief efforts at the Denver chapter of the American Red Cross. In addition to introducing its VTO program, SpectraLink recently formed partnerships with a number of local organizations including Colorado MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement), Impact on Education and the University of Colorado's Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP). SpectraLink is a corporate sponsor for MESA's 2005 Fall Fling with expanded plans to support MESA in 2006. The company is also working with Impact on Education to support arts programs at six Boulder Valley School District high schools. In exchange for providing financial support to those schools' arts departments, students will submit art projects to a panel of judges for recognition and a cash reward. In July, SpectraLink hosted 15 students from CU's MEP for a day of learning at the company's Boulder facility. Additional activities are planned throughout fall and winter. "As a company and as individuals, we've been dedicated to this community for many years," said John Elms, SpectraLink president and CEO. "I'm delighted that we now have a program in place that allows us to partner with organizations serving our neighbors in need." Elms, a staunch supporter of education particularly in the areas of math and science, signed the company up as a corporate underwriter for KBDI-TV/12 (PBS). Other programs underway include a partnership with the Developmental Pathways Supported Employment program. The company reassigned a portion of its assembly work to local workers through the program, which enables SpectraLink to employ people in the area who have developmental disabilities. The program has been a huge success and a win-win agreement for all parties involved. "As SpectraLink grows, we're thrilled to expand our involvement in the community without whom we would not have become the company we are today," Elms concluded.
