Oracle OpenWorld -- STEC, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC),
The SSD Company™, a leading global provider of solid-state drive
(SSD) technologies and products, today announced that it will
showcase its portfolio of solutions designed for enterprise
applications during this week's Oracle OpenWorld at the Moscone
Convention Center in San Francisco. STEC's booth (#101) is located
in the Moscone South Hall.
The massive explosion in data being managed in the data center
has created growth opportunities for performance-enhancing
solutions like solid-state drives. According to IDC Research, 1.8
zettabytes of data is created/replicated each year and expected to
double every two years going forward. For customers in the
enterprise storage platforms and server systems arena, access to
data must be immediate to feed what has become an insatiable
appetite for more content, greater convenience, easier access,
faster performance, and constant availability. STEC SSDs deliver
ultra-fast access speeds, low power consumption and reduced
physical footprints that can immediately be put to use in data
center environments.
To address this need for 'immediate access to data' in the
enterprise, STEC continues to innovate SSD technologies and today
delivers the most comprehensive portfolio of SSD solutions in the
market. These products also reduce server sprawl and improve a data
center's return on investment (ROI). Many applications running in
the data center benefit from STEC's solid-state technologies
including mission-critical transaction processing, big data
analytics, cloud computing, high-performance computing (HPC), Web
servers/Email Exchange servers, database indexing/logging, storage
tiering, and server application acceleration.
At Oracle OpenWorld, STEC will utilize a combination of product
demonstrations, real-world partner-delivered applications, and
compelling theater presentations to present its portfolio of
solid-state solutions for the enterprise.
Booth Demonstrations
STEC's solution-focused product demonstrations include:
- Kronos™ PCIe Solid State Accelerator (SSA)
Demonstration: {demonstrates server application
acceleration for a high-performance OnLine Transaction Processing
(OLTP) workload in an Oracle database environment}
- EnhanceIO™ SSD Cache Software Demonstration:
{showcases a reliable, easy and flexible way to scale the data
center, improve performance and reduce total cost of ownership
(TCO) for existing server platforms}
- ZeusIOPS® SSD Demonstration: {using a
Microsoft SQL workload generator, this demonstration highlights the
major differences between Multi-Level Cell (MLC)-based ZeusIOPS
SSDs and competing Single-Level Cell (SLC) and other MLC SSD
solutions}
- ZeusRAM™ SSD Demonstration: {using Oracle
Orion software, this demonstration shows ZeusRAM's ability to
provide ultra-high write IOPS while maintaining low-latency,
resulting in acceleration of metadata and write-logs within a
Networked Attached Storage (NAS) appliance}
- CellCare™ Technology Demonstration:
{illustrates how flash-based enterprise-class MLC SSDs can
cost-effectively be deployed in data-intensive workload
environments without limiting performance}
STEC will also showcase the following original equipment
manufacturer (OEM) partner-delivered demonstrations that feature
real-world applications using solution-focused STEC solid-state
products:
- Cisco Demonstration: {demonstrates
multitasking capabilities of STEC's MACH16™ SATA SSD running
multiple high-definition videos on a Cisco Unified Computing System
(UCS) rack server}
- Hitachi Data Systems Demonstration: {showcases
how enterprise storage systems from Hitachi Data Systems automate
data placement on SSDs to obtain the best performance at the
optimal cost}
- Nexenta Demonstration: {highlights the
performance and total cost advantages of a dataON Storage NX2260-Z
system with flash-aware NexentaStor software when used with STEC's
ZeusRAM and ZeusIOPS SSDs as write and read caches}
- Oracle Demonstration: {showcases an Oracle ZFS
Storage Appliance with ZeusIOPS SSD-accelerated Hybrid Storage
Pools that simplify storage management by intelligently and
automatically moving data between memory, flash and disk, which in
turn, continuously optimizes storage system performance and
efficiency}
- Pure Storage Demonstration: {demonstrates STEC
ZeusIOPS SSD technology in a Pure Storage flash array compared to
two hard disk drive (HDD)-based enterprise scenarios, comparing the
cost and performance advantages of solid-state storage over
spinning media}
Theater Presentations
In addition to the product and partner-delivered demonstrations,
STEC will provide educational theater presentations during
exhibition hours at Oracle OpenWorld. These compelling
presentations occur one- to two-times daily and are approximately 7
to 12 minutes in duration. Topics include:
- SSD Success Story: Energy company improves performance on a
Hitachi Data Systems platform using SSDs;
- STEC CellCare technology reduces TCO by using MLC SSDs in the
enterprise;
- Server application acceleration with STEC's EnhanceIO SSD Cache
Software;
- Modernizing the Storage Area Network (SAN) with STEC's Kronos
PCIe SSAs; and
- Pure Storage: Maximizing storage performance with less power
and space
As part of its theater presentation, STEC will feature two
30-minute 'Ask the Experts' panels that enables show attendees to
ask questions to a panel of industry experts about solid-state
solutions and technologies for the enterprise. The 'Ask the
Experts' panel includes STEC OEM partners, market analysts, STEC
product managers, and trade editors, and is scheduled for 1:00 pm
PT on both Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th.
"The enterprise SSD market has moved from the early adoption
phase to a burgeoning growth phase, and since the development and
qualification of our first enterprise SSDs into major OEM accounts
in 2007 we have continued to invest heavily in technology that
uniquely positions us to deliver superior solutions," said Manouch
Moshayedi, STEC's Chairman and CEO. "At this week's Oracle
OpenWorld, STEC will demonstrate that there is no other company in
the enterprise storage and server markets that has the product
portfolio, OEM customer base, and depth and breadth of solid-state
experience as we do."
