Scipher announces new information display systems contract

Scipher plc ("Scipher") the technology development and licensing company, today
announces that its Secure Identification business has signed a major contract
with Satellite Information Services Limited ("SIS"), to provide advanced
multimedia delivery systems for SIS information display applications. The
contract is valued at over �2.0 million and includes an initial payment to
Scipher on signing.

Under the contract, several hundred information systems will be deployed in
betting shops throughout the UK. These systems will transform the way in which
betting and racing information is presented to customers, delivering new levels
of information performance.

SIS is the leading UK provider of live pictures, commentary and betting
information for racing and numbers games. SIS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Satellite Information Services (Holdings) Limited, which is owned by Hilton
Group 23%, Thales (formerly Racal) 23%, Alternateport (a subsidiary of United
Business Media) 19%, William Hill Organization 19%, The Racecourse Association
10% and The Horserace Totalisator Board 6%.
