Standard Chartered: Not In Talks To Buy Assets In Thailand

Standard Chartered PLC's (STAN.LN) chief executive for Asia,
Jaspal Bindra, said Monday the lender isn't in talks to buy assets
in Thailand, following a report the bank is planning to bid for a
stake in Thailand's Siam City Bank PCL (SCIB.TH).
Thai newspaper Kao Hoon reported Monday that Standard Chartered,
HSBC Holdings PLC (HBC) and Australia & New Zealand Banking
Group (ANZ.AU) are among the banks expected to make bids Tuesday
for a stake in the Thai bank.
