Kasey Kahne's #9 Dodge to Join Great Western Sports' 'Back the Track' RV September 22-24 PUYALLUP, Wash., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Great Western Sports (GWS), a subsidiary of International Speedway Corporation, has partnered with the Western Washington Fair Association to sponsor the "Back the Track" weekend at the Puyallup Fair on September 22 - 24, 2006. Various show-cars from national racing series, including Kasey Kahne's #9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger from the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, will be joined by the "Back the Track" RV and local volunteers to rally support for the proposed motorsports and multi-use recreational facility project in nearby Kitsap County. GWS information booths will be located at each of the main entry gates to the facility. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about the project, including the billions of dollars in potential new economic benefits to the state and the many community-use opportunities available. In addition, supporters can sign petitions in favor of the project, enter to win great prizes and packages to future races, and learn how to help make this important project a reality. "The Puyallup Fair is a major annual event in Washington, and we are proud to have partnered with such a renowned organization like the Western Washington Fair Association," said GWS President Grant Lynch. "The weekend gives us the opportunity to showcase some of the most popular vehicles in major motorsports today, including Enumclaw-native Kasey Kahne's #9 UAW/Dodge. We encourage everyone to come visit our GWS information booths to learn more about our project and how you can help bring premier motorsports to the state of Washington." "The Puyallup Fair is known not only for tradition, but for cutting-edge new products and activities. GWS' 'Back to the Track Weekend' is an ideal way to educate the community about the proposed motorsports project in Kitsap County," said Kent Hojem, Puyallup Fair Manager. Lynch concluded, "The motorsports and multi-use recreational facility represents billions of dollars in new economic benefit to the region and the state, and will be a valuable community amenity available for use by education, charitable and civic organizations. Out-of-state tourists and visitors to the facility during race events will generate the necessary revenue to help finance part of the construction. Importantly, no new taxes will be created by this project, nor will current taxes be increased." GWS continues to analyze necessary infrastructure improvements, transportation solutions and facility design, landscaping and greenery, and environmental considerations. The project will be designed to meet or surpass all local, state and federal environmental regulations. In addition, GWS has committed to paying $166 million -- nearly half -- of the $345 million total construction costs plus any cost overruns and future maintenance and upgrades to the facility. Nearly 200 businesses and over 75 local organizations have endorsed the development of the facility including the Kitsap County Economic Development Council, the Economic Development Council of Mason County, the Pierce County Economic Development Board, the Washington State Labor Council, the City of Bremerton Arts Commission and the Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula Council of the Navy League, among others. GWS has also launched an extensive outreach effort to directly address concerns of local residents and provide additional information about the project, as well as about Great Western Sports and International Speedway Corporation. The Puyallup Fair first started in 1900. This Pacific Northwest tradition features top name entertainment, the PRCA Rodeo, rides, exhibits, food, flowers, and animals.
