Traders doing business with Chevron Corp. (CVX) on May 14 said
the May 12 planned unit shutdown at Chevron's Richmond, Calif.,
refinery involves the FCCU and hydrotreater unit. Maintenance is
expected to last for two weeks, they said. Chevron on May 12
notified California state environmental regulators of possible
emissions during the unit shutdown.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on May 14 said work is progressing to
restart the compressor that malfunctioned last week at its oil
refinery in Beaumont, Texas, occurred at the same coker unit
recently restarted after several weeks of turnaround maintenance;
it was operating at normal rates on May 10, company spokeswoman
Kathleen Jackson said at that time.
Separately, on May 14, Exxon Mobil said a hydrocracker unit
taken off line on May 10 is returning to normal operations
following repairs to its recycle compressor.

brief fire on May 9 is expected to restart on May 17, a person
familiar with the plant said on May 14.
Phillips 66 (PSX) on May 12 said complex personnel worked to
restore normal operations at its Sweeny refinery in Old Ocean,
Texas, after power was restored following an interruption earlier
in the day, according to a filing to state regulators. Several
units were listed as the sources of the emissions, including the
sulfur recovery complex and regenerative thermal oxidizer.
Flint Hills Resources, LP, on May 12 said the combination of
coker unit maintenance and the restart of a compressor at the
plant's hydrocracker unit caused an emissions and flaring at its in
Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery, according to a filing to state
regulators.
Shell Oil (RDSB.LN, RDSA.LN) on May 12 said a lube hydrocracking
unit was shut unplanned at its joint venture Motiva refinery in
Port Arthur, Texas, after a relatively brief fire at an associated
heater, according to a filing to state regulators.
Pasadena Refining Systems Inc. on May 12 said the key
gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit at its oil refinery
in Pasadena, Texas, was shut when a loss of power caused two
steam-producing boilers to go off line. Repairs to the power system
were commenced," the filing to the TCEQ said.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) on May 11 said the restart of an FCCU
at its McKee, Texas, refinery is underway following turnaround
maintenance that began on March 31.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) on May 11 said crude and coker unit
turnaround maintenance at its Beaumont, Texas, refinery was
completed and the units are at normal operations; the turnaround
started on April 29. Separately, a hydrocracker unit was shut on
May 10 for unplanned compressor repair. It will restart as soon as
possible, the company said.
Citgo Petroleum Corp. on May 10 reported equipment failure and
emissions at it's Lemont, Illinois, refinery to state environmental
regulators. A portion of the plant has been off line since April 29
for 30 days of planned maintenance, a filing to environmental
regulators said.
Valero Energy (VLO) on May 10 said the restart of the Meraux,
La., refinery alkylation unit and FCCU is being evaluated for
cost-effectiveness. The units were shut Jan. 2 of extensive
turnaround maintenance.
Restart activities continue at BP's (BP) Cherry Point refinery
although the crude unit was shut down on May 9 for adjustments, a
person familiar with operations at the plant said on May 10. The
refinery is on track for mid-May return to service.
