DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

The following table lists unplanned and planned production outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.

ConocoPhillips (COP) on Aug. 30 notified U.S. regulators of flaring due to a possible sulfur dioxide release during the restart of its Bayway refinery in Linden, N.J. The plant was shut on Aug. 28 as a precaution ahead of Hurricane Irene.

ConocoPhillips' Trainer, Pa., refinery was back at planned rates on Aug. 30, sources said. The plant had been operating at 80% of capacity since Saturday as a precaution ahead of Hurricane Irene.

Sunoco Inc's. (SUN) Philadelphia refinery continued to operate at reduced rates on Aug. 30 because of storm-related equipment failure, and breakdowns that occurred ahead of the storm. An early morning fire on Aug. 24 served to shut down a crude unit and hydrotreater, a filing to state regulators said.

Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) notified authorities on Aug. 23 that a fluid catalytic cracker at it's 210,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Catlettsburg, Ky, was still down a week after a relatively small fire shut down the unit. It wasn't known when the unit would be restarted.

BP (BP) notified the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that maintenance would be performed on the number one fluid catalytic cracking unit at it's 407,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Texas City, Tx, beginning early Aug. 24 for an unspecified amount of time. Flaring was expected for at least 24 hours.

BP began shutting down a compressor leading to a coking unit at it's 405,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Whiting, Indiana, on Aug. 23 after discovering a leak, according to a person familiar with refinery operations. No estimate of repair time was forthcoming.

A fluid catalytic cracker at BP's 407,000 barrel-a-day refinery in Texas City, Tx, tripped off line on Saturday, Aug. 20, causing a flaring event from 10:10 a.m. to 6:04 p.m., according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. It wasn't know how much gasoline production was lost during the event.

Alon USA Energy Inc. (ALJ) recently began turnaround maintenance at a key gasoline-making unit at its oil refinery in Big Spring, Texas, a report to Texas state environmental regulators made public on July 25 said. The date of the unit's return to normal service wasn't provided.
