information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said it has postponed a turnaround of
the vacuum unit at its 170,000 barrel-a-day McKee, Texas, refinery
until sometime in the first half of 2012.
ConocoPhillips (COP) will take down Unit 27.1 and a regenerator
and reactor from service at its refinery in Sweeny, Texas, for
inspection and possible repair, the company said in a regulatory
filing Feb. 17.
BP plc reported an unspecified problem on Feb. 16 with the
sulfur recovery unit at its Whiting, Indiana, according to a
government filing.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said Feb. 16 it shut the 30,000
barrel-a-day hydrocracker at its McKee refinery in Texas for
repairs. Company spokesman Bill Day said the shutdown was expected
to be short. Valero also restarted a crude unit at its Aruba
refinery Tuesday evening. The unit is increasing toward planned
rates, with other production units to restart soon, Day said.
WRB Refining LLC (COP, CVE) reported an unspecified unit
malfunction at its refinery in Borger, Texas, on Feb. 15, according
to a govenrment filing. WRB Refining last week said freezing cold
temperatures caused a process upset at its oil refinery in Borger,
Texas, which resulted in emissions at several flare stacks at the
plant, according to a filing to Texas state environmental
regulators.
Holly Corporation (HOC) on Feb. 22 said it was bringing its
Navajo Refinery in Artesia, New Mexico, to planned rates after a
Jan. 26 plant-wide power failure.
Western Refining said Feb. 14 that it started ramping up
operations at its El Paso refinery late last week. Extreme cold
weather and electrical blackouts forced the refinery to suspend
operations on Feb. 7.
Hovensa LLC said a fire erupted at the distillate
desulfurization unit of its 500,000 barrel-a-day refinery in St.
Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. No injuries were reported. The rest of
the refinery remains in production, a company spokesman said.
Citgo Corp. Monday shut FCCU No. 1 at its Corpus Christi, Texas,
refinery to repair an expansion joint; the restart estimate was not
provided in a filing to environmental regulators made available on
Wednesday.
Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) Monday said planned turnaround
maintenance began Saturday at its oil refinery in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana. The work at an unspecified unit, or units, is expected
to last for several weeks.
