Alphabet Inc.’s Google Cloud launched on Monday in collaboration with the United States Department of the Treasury, new generative AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics training programs “to drive a new skills-based hiring effort to expand access to jobs in data analytics and cybersecurity.”

“We are partnering with Google to provide the new Cloud Certificates training for our current and future employees to accelerate their careers in cybersecurity and data analytics,” US Treasury Chief AI Officer Todd Conklin commented.

The no-cost access programs, available on YouTube and Google Cloud Skills Boost, will allow participants to enroll in courses on generative AI, obtain a Google Cloud Cybersecurity Certificate, and earn a Google Cloud Data Analytics Certificate.

Google reportedly faces antitrust action in Japan

The Japan Fair Trade Commission is said to be pressuring Google LLC to reform its business practices following alleged restrictions on a search advertising collaboration with Yahoo! Inc., sources told Nikkei Asia on Monday.

Namely, insiders revealed that the watchdog notified Google last month that its earlier changes to the partnership with Yahoo regarding the display of search-related mobile advertisements on third-party sites might constitute a violation of Japanese antitrust regulations. The person familiar with the matter noted that Google withdrew its requests in response to the result of the probe.

Sources also disclosed that Google has already submitted an improvement plan to address the issue.
