AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Vroom & Dreesmann Warenhuizen BV (V&D), a subsidiary of Vendex KBB, has selected Geac(R) (TSX: GAC, NASDAQ: GEAC) to streamline its apparel division's processes. The software from RunTime, Geac's specialist division serving the apparel and footwear industry; is expected to enable V&D to standardise design processes and to develop collections much faster. Other subsidiaries of Vendex KBB, including M&S Mode, Claudia Strater, Hunkemoller and HEMA, are already established users of Geac RunTime software. One of the modules V&D uses is ColorTime. As part of DesignTime, this module offers the apparel division full control over the use of colour in new collections and records the exact prints and colours. The apparel division also uses the WeaveTime module for efficient design of woven fabric. This innovative, user-friendly program includes all available weaving methods, enabling designers to create and design their own patterns. V&D also works with DesignTime's standard templates, ensuring that all designers use the same lay-outs. This makes it possible to communicate the designs to production departments much faster, as the output comes out the same and is totally clear. The output's lay-out can be adjusted as desired. V&D makes intensive use of StyleTime, the library functionality within Geac RunTime. StyleTime enables designers to save complete drawings, materials, designs, prints and other design properties in a transparent way. Designs can be converted into PDF format and easily be sent by e-mail, for example to other production facilities in the Far East. Moreover, buyers can purchase materials based on these documents. "Geac RunTime is the standard for streamlining design processes", says Tinka Doorgeest, styling coordinator at V&D. "The solution offers a comprehensive set of tools to develop clothing collections faster and more efficiently. Geac RunTime supports the entire process: from the first sketches and storyboards to the final, detailed technical designs. It is RunTime's user-friendliness that has made several retail chains decide to start using RunTime for their design processes. V&D's apparel division is one of them, and eighteen designers in this division now use Geac RunTime."
