The Vernon deposit is underground, and it is placer (gravel). Semi-consolidated in places, but you'd still treat it like you would every other placer - take bulk samples (the bigger the better), and run it through a sluice system to determine gold content. Not by fire assay, never done for a place

From what I have read they use the sluice first, then take it for other testing. So both are used.
