Purchase of Wet Concentrator Plant for Titanium Project
Kenmare is pleased to announce that it has completed an agreement to purchase
a wet concentrator plant ("the Plant") from The Broken Hill Proprietary
Company Limited ("BHP").
The Plant was utilised as part of the BHP mineral sands process facility
located at Beenup, Australia which was closed in early 1999 due to mining
difficulties with the orebody. BHP has advised the Company that the Plant
cost approximately A$67 million. Kenmare has agreed to pay BHP A$2.5 million
(Stg#1 million) for the Plant, payable on a phased basis by 30 April, 2001.
Mr. Charles Carvill, Chairman of Kenmare, commented as follows:
"Kenmare has seized a unique opportunity by purchasing this plant. This will
significantly reduce the capital cost and enhance the attractiveness of the
Kenmare Titanium Project in Mozambique".
