Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported a compressor issue and
above-normal flaring of gas emissions at its McKee refinery in the
Texas panhandle.
"The McKee Refinery experienced an excess opacity and flaring
event ... due to a compressor issue in Complex 1," the refinery
said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental
Quality.
It said the excessive gas emissions, including carbon monoxide,
began Sunday and likely ended late-afternoon on Monday, though it
said those were estimates because the issue was ongoing.
The nearly 200,000-barrel-a-day McKee refinery is located in
Sunray, 65 miles north of Amarillo.
